Fireworks on the Fourth of July are a long-standing tradition, dating back to the birth of the country. According to the American Pyrotechnics Association, there could be as many as 16,000 firework displays lighting up the skies this Independence Day.
This includes Chad Stanley’s renowned “Kaboom Town” fireworks show in Addison, Texas, near Dallas.
Stanley has been organizing this show for over ten years and emphasizes the impact it has on each viewer.
“It’s a 24-minute show, but for every person watching, it’s 24 minutes of magic. So when you break it down, it’s not a lot of work for a lot of enjoyment,” he explained.
To put on the show, Stanley and his team meticulously place over 4,000 shells in fiberglass pipes.
Although the process starts with hands-on preparation, the show itself is a technologically advanced production.

“The database calculates the timing for firing the e-match, the shell, and the entire process before the explosion,” Stanley described.
He highlighted that computer-operated firing has become the norm in the industry due to the level of control it offers.
“It’s a completely different experience from the traditional hand-firing method we were used to as kids,” he added.
Addison anticipated a crowd of half a million people to attend its Fourth of July celebration, featuring a concert, air show, and numerous vendors, with Stanley’s fireworks stealing the spotlight.
“Our favorite moment is always the final shell, signaling a successful show that thrilled the audience,” Stanley shared.
