BILLINGS — The contract of Billings Mustangs starting pitcher Pat Maybach has been bought out by the Chicago White Sox, the Mustangs announced via the social media site X on Friday.
Maybach, a Rhode Island native who had played for the Ponies in each of the past three seasons, finished his time in the Magic City with a combined record of 9-8 with a 5.27 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 157 innings pitched.
His 2024 season was en route to being his best yet in independent baseball as at the time of his move to the White Sox, with Maybach being 4-1 with a 3.68 ERA (third in the Pioneer Baseball League following the conclusion of Thursday’s games) and 35 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings.
The 26-year-old had his share of strong outings in Billings, perhaps most notably a complete-game, one-hit shutout he fired June 5 on the road against the Rocky Mountain Vibes.
