Disgraced former Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein will appear in a New York courthouse on Tuesday, where prosecutors will announce if additional charges will be brought against him.
The hearing regarding a potential new indictment follows the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office stating in late May that they were reviewing more allegations of sexual misconduct against Weinstein. Prosecutors are determining which of these new complaints fall within New York’s statute of limitations, while some accusers are not yet ready to come forward publicly.

This development comes after New York’s highest appeals court reversed Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction and the corresponding 23-year prison sentence, citing mishandling of information presented to jurors by the judge, including allowing irrelevant testimony. This decision reopened wounds for those involved in the #MeToo movement.
Prosecutors are seeking a retrial in September. Weinstein, 72, remains in custody as he also faces a 16-year prison term for rape in Los Angeles.
