NEW YORK — McDonald’s once focused on salads in its marketing efforts. However, since 2020, salads have been removed from the menu. The chain has realized that customers primarily seek burgers and fries when they visit McDonald’s.
“If customers truly desire salads from McDonald’s, we are open to reintroducing them,” stated Joe Erlinger, the president of McDonald’s USA, in a June interview at the Wall Street Journal’s annual Global Food Forum. “But our experience has shown that is not the primary expectation from McDonald’s customers,” he added.
“They prefer great french fries, a $5 meal deal, a hot fresh sandwich. Therefore, that is what we will continue to offer them.”
