Granted, most of us are probably never going to visit Norway, but if you do here’s a wild outdoor opportunity.
The Stigull stairway, part of the Loen Via Ferrata, is a way for people to climb a 40 meter-long ladder up the side of a fjord near the Norwegian village of Loen.
The stairway opened in May. Visitors have to climb toward the top of Mount Hoven where the 120-step cable ladder has been erected to scale 790 meters above the fjord.
“This is an adrenaline-filled experience for all climbing enthusiasts,” said Per Helge Bø, the initiator at Loen Skylift. “The ladder has a relatively low difficulty level but feels very airy, so the sense of accomplishment is great when climbing this stage. It actually looks like people are floating in thin air.”
