A well-established photography school in Missoula, which attracts students from around the globe, has made the difficult decision to close its doors.
Rocky Mountain School of Photography, owned and operated by Neil and Jeanne Chaput de Saintonge and their family along with numerous staff members, is currently located at 301 Expressway and has previously had offices downtown.
“After 35 years of running RMSP, we have come to the tough conclusion to shut down our school,” the company shared on social media. “Despite facing various challenges over the years, with a positive outlook, dedicated staff and instructors, as well as a mix of luck and hard work, we have successfully navigated the evolving landscape of technology and education.”
However, this time things are different, as mentioned in the post.
“This time, the enrollment figures for our in-person programs are no longer sustainable,” the post explained. “And so, here we are. We want to express our gratitude to all those who have been a part of RMSP, whether you joined us decades ago or just recently. It has been a privilege for us to be entrusted with your education. Over the course of our 35-year teaching journey, we have encountered many remarkable, talented, and successful students, and we genuinely wish the best for each and every one of you.”

The school will be hosting a sale featuring various photography equipment, lighting gear, merchandise, furniture, and more, scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. on July 27.
Students from the school were often seen covering events in downtown Missoula, particularly during the summer.
