BILLINGS — The heatwave in Montana and Wyoming continued today, with a strong ridge of high pressure lingering over the Rockies. Similar to yesterday, isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over southern Montana and northern Wyoming later this afternoon, dissipating by evening.
Temperatures will be slightly higher on Saturday and slightly lower on Sunday, remaining well above average throughout the weekend. Eastern Montana and the border region between Montana and Wyoming have the highest probability of rain showers and thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening.
A weak area of low pressure will pass over southern Canada on Sunday and Monday, causing a slight decrease in temperatures and bringing isolated showers and thunderstorms. The ridge over the Intermountain West will strengthen during the week, leading to a gradual temperature increase.
