BILLINGS — Bailey Giffen knew that he made history from the moment he made his final kick.
So did the crowd surrounding the Billings Outlaws’ kicker at First Interstate Arena at MetraPark on Saturday night, who he said made him barter with them for the game ball he booted through the uprights as time expired in the Outlaws’ wild 35-32 Arena Football League playoff semifinal win over the Nashville Kats.
There wasn’t any way that the Texan was going to be leaving the arena without that ball, though. Especially not with an epic moment now on his resume and a spot clinched for Billings in next week’s ArenaBowl XXXIII, the AFL’s first championship game since being revived following the original league’s bankruptcy in 2019.
