Paul Mescal is hopeful that both “Gladiator II” and “Wicked” can replicate the success of “Barbenheimer.” Both highly anticipated films are scheduled to be released on Nov. 22, and Mescal is optimistic that they can generate the same level of excitement as “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” did in July 2023.
In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Mescal shared his thoughts, saying: “Wickdiator doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, does it? Personally, I would prefer Glicked if it can have a similar impact to what ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ had. It would be incredible because these films are complete opposites, and it worked well in that dynamic before. So, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that audiences will come out to see both movies on opening weekend.”
Portraying the character of Lucius Verus in the sequel, the Oscar nominee discussed the challenges of preparing physically for the role without going too far.
The 28-year-old actor explained: “I wanted to appear strong and powerful, someone capable of causing damage. However, I also wanted to avoid looking like a model in underwear rather than a warrior.”
