2024 MLB All-Star Game odds: AL vs. NL betting odds for Tuesday
The 94th Major League Baseball All-Star Game will take place Tuesday, July 16 from Globe Life Field in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers.Â
According to the best MLB betting sites, the American League is a slight favorite over the National League with the total set at 7.5 runs. Below are our MLB All-Star Game picks and props for the contest:
Pitching is known to dominate these All-Star games, especially recently. And considering the arms that are due to be pitching on Tuesday, we expect much of the same.Â
If we look at the last 10 All-Star games (dating back to 2013), seven of them have stayed under this total including each of the last four. We’re betting on much of the same by the time it’s said and done on Tuesday.Â
As we get toward the end of the game, the AL bullpen features Emmanuel Clase, Mason Miller and more, while the NL sports Robert Suarez and Ryan Hensley at the top of its ‘pen.Â
In accordance with the full-game under, a bet on Under 4.5 runs over the first five innings also feels rather safe given the strong starting pitching we’ll see in the first half of the game.Â
Some of the AL arms include Corbin Burnes, Tarik Skubal, Garrett Crochet and Seth Lugo. On the NL side, we’ve got Paul Skenes, Zack Wheeler and Shota Imanaga among others.Â
At BetMGM, you can wager on which All-Star team will get on the board first, and value is lying with the AL here.
With fearsome righty Paul Skenes set to take the ball and the NL batting first, the odds are slanted toward the NL taking an early lead. That said, we’ve got a rookie on the mound in the All-Star Game and against a powerful AL lineup, he could be prone to nerves and an early run.Â
Even if Skenes manages to dominate, we’re unlike to see him for more than an inning or two, so there’s still some value in taking plus-money with the team that is favored in the game.Â
If you’re looking to back two of the best starting pitchers in the game so far this season no matter who they’re facing, then the ever-popular NRFI could be for you.Â
Skenes is the NL starter and the rookie has lit it up this season, sporting a 1.90 ERA and striking out 89 batters over 66.1 innings. He will become the fifth rookie to ever start an All-Star Game and the first in nearly 30 years.Â
On the other side, Corbin Burnes is having a stellar season for the first-place Baltimore Orioles, posting a 2.43 ERA over 19 starts and striking out 110 batters in 118.2 innings pitched.Â
