BILLINGS — The fire risk will remain high this week due to consistently warm temperatures. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to bring lightning and gusty winds, increasing the potential for wildfires.
Temperatures will be relatively cooler on Tuesday, with morning temperatures in the 50s to low 60s and afternoon highs in the 80s to low 90s. Thursday is forecasted to be the hottest day, with temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to around 100°.
The grass is drying out quickly, raising the risk of grassland fires with any ignition sources. There is a 15 to 30% chance of isolated storms in the afternoons and evenings, depending on your location.
Smoke may reduce visibility, especially in the area south of Billings. Most of the smoke is drifting from fires in Oregon and Northern California, but local fires could contribute to the haze as well.
