The Montana DNRC issued a correction that no evacuation warnings are in place on Dalton Mountain Road.
Residents in the area should remain alert and prepared.
LINCOLN, Mont. – An evacuation warning is in place for residents on Dalton Mountain Road due to a fire burning 1.5 miles southwest of Lincoln in the Sauerkraut drainage.
Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) responded to Dalton Fire at 3 p.m. Monday, and by 10 p.m. the fire was 10 acres with a retardant line down.
Currently, resources are responding to the fire: Six engines, three water tenders, and two dozers from DNRC, U.S. Forest Service and local government.
The fire is located in dense timber on private property, and the cause is unknown at this time.
No structures are at immediate risk, but there is an evacuation warning in effect for residents on Dalton Mountain Road.
DNRC said an evacuation order may go into effect without prior warning due to quickly changing conditions.
Nearby residents should keep vigilant and prepared.
The public is asked to avoid the area and be extremely careful.
Weather is forecasted to remain hot and dry throughout the week with temperatures in the 80s and 90s.
