MISSOULA — The Montana Grizzlies and Montana State Bobcats each had four players selected to the FCS preseason All-America teams by FCS Football Central.
UM’s selections were Junior Bergen, Cole Grossman, Riley Wilson, and Trevin Gradney. MSU’s honorees were Marcus Wehr, Brody Grebe, Justus Perkins, and Tommy Mellott.
Bergen, a Billings native and Senior grad, landed on the first team as an all-purpose player. He is tied for the Big Sky career record with five punt return touchdowns. He was a first-team all-conference wide receiver and punt returner last year.
Wehr, a Billings native and Central grad, was selected for the first team as an offensive lineman. He was a consensus first-team All-American last year and was the highest-graded offensive tackle in the FCS by Pro Football Focus.

Grebe, a Melstone native, grabbed a spot on the first team as a defensive lineman. He has made the All-Big Sky first team twice and was a 2023 Buck Buchanan Award finalist.
Grossman made the second team as a tight end. He missed the 2023 season because of surgery but was a Hero Sports Sophomore All-American in 2022 and a Freshman All-American in 2021.
Wilson was picked for the second team as a linebacker. He was an All-Big Sky second-team selection last year as he ranked second in the conference with 15 tackles for loss and fifth with 8.5 sacks in his first season after transferring from Hawaii.
Gradney, a Billings native and West grad, was chosen for the second team as a defensive back. He was an All-Big Sky first-team pick last year as he led the conference and was tied for fourth nationally with five interceptions. He was chosen to wear Montana’s No. 37 legacy jersey this year.
Perkins, a Bozeman native, was honored with a second-team spot as an offensive lineman. He was an All-Big Sky honorable mention last year and was graded as the third-best center in the FCS by Pro Football Focus.
Mellott, a Butte native, was recognized on the second team as an all-purpose player. He has twice been named to the All-Big Sky second team as a dual-threat quarterback.
