Helena Area Habitat for Humanity received a $120,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Trust to expand and improve the local ReStore, officials said Thursday.
The money from the private charitable trust will be used to add 2,000 more square feet of space and fund paving and fencing of 5,000 square feet to accommodate outdoor lumber storage at 1320 Market Ave.
Habitat officials said they also plan to improve the driveway to make donations easier and safer.
Jacob Kuntz, executive director of Helena Area Habitat for Humanity, expressed gratitude for the grant.
“Our community is grappling with a housing crisis, and the Restore helps stretch family dollars for home repair projects,” he said in a news release. “It’s also heartwarming to see community members come in for those special touches that turn a house into a home.”
