Alabama gave approval to name its football field at Bryant-Denny Stadium after Nick Saban in September. Saban Field will be officially recognized in Tuscaloosa. The university confirmed on Friday, through a unanimous vote, that Saban, the head coach who guided the Crimson Tide to six national championships, will have his name added to the stadium signage. “We are honored that The University of Alabama has chosen to name the field Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium,” Saban stated. “The incredible success of the football program over the past 17 years is a testament to the hard work of many student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Leading the program at Alabama has been the greatest privilege of my life. Terry and I are thankful for the recognition of Saban Field, which will forever celebrate our achievements.” Saban claimed national titles at Alabama in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2020. He retired after the 2023 season with a college coaching record of 297-71-1. During his time at the Crimson Tide, he had a record of 206-29. Saban secured nine of his 11 SEC championships with Alabama. He previously coached at Toledo, Michigan State, and LSU, winning a national championship with the latter in 2003. “Naming the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium as Saban Field is a fitting tribute to Coach Saban’s exceptional contributions to The University of Alabama,” said UA President Stuart R. Bell. “Coach Saban and Ms. Terry have greatly enhanced our community, and this recognition celebrates their enduring legacy. We extend our gratitude to the Board of Trustees for bestowing this wonderful honor.” –Field Level Media
