The Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump, stated that he would “consider” JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon for Treasury secretary if he is re-elected for a second term in the White House. Trump made these comments during an extensive interview about his economic vision for the U.S. with Bloomberg Businessweek.
Reports from sources like Axios reveal that Trump is aware of Dimon’s interest in supporting the expected winner of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
According to Axios, Trump stated, “Whoever’s leading gets all the support they want. I could have the personality of a shrimp, and everybody would come.”

Trump mentioned that he would allow current U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to finish his term at the central bank. Additionally, he expressed strong support for the inclusion of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin in a potential second Trump administration. Gov. Youngkin previously worked for the Carlyle Group, a prominent global investment firm.
In April, Dimon stated to investors his continued expectation of strong performance from the U.S. economy, despite ongoing concerns about a possible recession. He also expressed worries over the conflicts in Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas situation, along with the divisive nature of U.S. politics.
