The Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump, mentioned that he would “consider” JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon for Treasury secretary if he is re-elected for a second term in the White House. Trump discussed his economic vision for the U.S. in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek.
In excerpts from the interview as reported by various news outlets, including Axios, Trump acknowledged Dimon’s interest in supporting the likely winner of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
According to Axios, Trump stated, “Whoever is leading will receive all the support they need. I could have the personality of a shrimp, and everyone would come.”

Trump indicated that he would allow current U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to complete his term at the central bank. He also expressed strong support for including Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin in a potential second Trump administration, noting Gov. Youngkin’s prior affiliation with the Carlyle Group.
In April, Dimon voiced his continued expectation of a resilient U.S. economy to investors, amidst ongoing concerns about a possible recession. He expressed worry about the conflicts in Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas situation, as well as the political polarization in the U.S.
