Whether you are Republican, Democrat, or not politically involved at all, it makes no difference. I’m sure you know exactly where you were when you found out former President Donald Trump had been shot.
July 13 was a dark day in our nation’s history. An innocent American, Corey Comperatore, was murdered at Trump’s rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania. And two others were hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Despite the tragedy of this past week, President Trump stayed strong. He proceeded to attend the Republican National Convention just days later. In high spirits, President Trump is proudly standing for our values alongside 50,000 patriots from across the United States — including me.

When the news broke that President Trump had officially selected Sen. J.D. Vance to serve as his vice president and running mate, our Montana delegates were getting ready to cast our states’ 31 votes for President Donald J. Trump.
The news spread like wildfire on the floor as all 50 states and six territories found out President Trump’s pick — and everyone was thrilled. We know Sen. Vance will bravely support President Trump in their joint campaign to Make America Great Once Again.
President Trump’s pick for Vance to be his future vice president is historic. J.D. Vance is an American success story. He grew up in poverty and a broken home with a mother who struggled with substance abuse, but the circumstance of his childhood did not sway him from reaching for something greater and achieving what many would call the American Dream.
He went on to become a father, a husband, and defended our nation as a United States Marine. In fact, J.D. Vance will be the first Marine veteran to ever serve as vice president. He’s a successful businessman and a U.S. senator from Ohio.
As Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance will be able to reach undecided voters on a personal level. His upbringing has made him into a man with a storied life, marked by dedication to his family and enduring love for our country.
I think Montanans and people across swing states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin can identify with Sen. Vance’s story and appreciate his success.
Like President Trump, Sen. Vance will always defend the working class who built this great nation. I have no doubt that he will bring the same inspiring and strong leadership to the White House that he has brought to the U.S. Senate.
For these reasons, Montana, on Nov. 5, I’m asking you to vote with me for Trump-Vance.
