DAVENPORT, Iowa — Emily Delleman’s journey to becoming an Olympian began under the Iowa-Illinois’ I-74 bridge.
Representing the United States at the Paris Olympics later this month, Delleman, a Davenport Central High School alumnae, secured her spot after her Women’s Quadruple Sculls boat claimed victory at the Final Qualification Regatta in Switzerland in May.
Starting at the Y Quad Cities Rowing Club in Moline, Illinois, Delleman has had a remarkable rowing career, being a two-time All-American at Stanford University and earning spots on seven national teams.
“I was fortunate to be part of an incredible program at the YMCA in Moline,” Delleman shared. “Under the guidance of Dr. Peter Sharis, the program flourished. Being between his daughters, both talented rowers, was a unique experience.”
