After nine months of delays, disagreement and no progress, the city of Helena is restarting the bid for a fire tower repair contractor.
“At this time, the scope of the work has been redefined,” Parks, Recreation and Open Lands Director Doug Smith said at a June 10 administrative meeting.
The Helena Fire Tower received $10,000 from MHF and was one of 28 projects in Montana to be awarded a piece of the organization’s more than $212,000 in grant money for 2022.
However, while both the city and the previous contractor, Porter & Associates Architectural Conservation, agreed to end the team-up, they each pointed the finger at the other.
