ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Montanans had an uneventful night on Saturday at the National High School Finals Rodeo at the Sweetwater Events Complex.
Columbia Falls bareback rider Azzy Lara finished eighth in the average with a total score of 211, ending 22.5 points behind the winner, Kash Loyd of Cleburne, Texas.
Corvallis tie-down roper Cash Trexler placed ninth in the average after a 14th-place finish on Saturday night with a time of 10.65 seconds. His overall average was 30.85 seconds, 3.16 behind champion Chizm Kuykendall of Carnegie, Oklahoma.
Martinsdale’s Walker Story finished 13th in reined cow horse on Friday with a score of 864.
Townsend’s Ella Begger finished 14th in the pole bending event with a time of 66.322 seconds.
Other Montanans competing on Saturday had no scores in their events.
Miles City saddle bronc rider Caiden Gray finished 15th overall despite not posting a score on Saturday night.
Darby trap shooter Austin Ward had the best week among Montanans, finishing fourth after two go-rounds.
Sophia Wyatt of Dillon placed 12th in the overall rifle competition.
Various other Montana competitors placed in different events at the NHSFR.
