According to a report from ESPN, Rashid Shaheed, the wide receiver and All-Pro returner for the New Orleans Saints, has agreed to a one-year, $5.2 million contract extension with the team. Last season, Shaheed, 25, was selected for the Pro Bowl after averaging 13.6 yards on punt returns and 21.3 yards on kickoffs. Signed as an undrafted free agent from Weber State in 2022, Shaheed also had a successful season in 2023 with 719 yards and five touchdowns on 46 receptions. The contract extension will keep him with the team until the 2025 season, following a $985,000 contract tender for 2024. In his first two seasons, Shaheed has played 27 games, with 14 starts, and accumulated 74 receptions for 1,207 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had a punt return touchdown last season. Shaheed was listed as a starting receiver on the Saints’ 2023 season-ending depth chart alongside Chris Olave, who was placed on the non-football injury list on Friday. –Field Level Media
