BOZEMAN — It was Carter Ash’s final act of hometown heroism.
On March 4 inside Worthington Arena, he subbed into Montana State’s regular season finale against Weber State with 39 seconds remaining. Shortly after, the ball found him with the shot clock winding down.
Ash attacked from the left wing, sliding to a stop inside 15 feet and pivoting around. There wasn’t enough time to pass, so he attempted the shot himself. The Wildcats defender got his hand on the ball, disrupting what was already an awkward shooting motion after Ash picked up his dribble. It ended up being more of a one-handed push shot, but it worked all the same.
