Harris continued, “Through this selfless and patriotic decision, President Biden is exemplifying his lifelong commitment to prioritizing the American people and the nation above all else.“

Scripps News reported that there was a White House staff meeting on Sunday following the president’s decision to withdraw from the race. A source familiar with the discussion mentioned that Anita Dunn urged staff members to focus on “getting the work done” and highlighting the achievements of the Biden-Harris administration.
She also emphasized the importance of everyone coming together to support and defend Harris.
Scripps News confirmed that Harris submitted paperwork to the Federal Election Commission on Sunday to run for president.
