Following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he is not running for re-election in 2024 and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the new nominee, social media users are pointing out a connection to an episode of The Simpsons that predicted a similar scenario.
In the Season 11 episode “Bart to the Future” that aired on March 19, 2000, Lisa Simpson is shown as the President in a purple pantsuit and pearl necklace. Fast forward to January 20, 2021, and fans noticed the similarities when Kamala Harris wore a purple ensemble and pearl necklace at Biden’s inauguration.
Actress and Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Claudia Jordan shared a side-by-side photo of Harris and Lisa, starting a viral trend on social media.

Other fans joined in, highlighting the accuracy of past Simpsons predictions, including Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox and voting machine issues in U.S. elections.
Simpsons writer and executive producer Al Jean also acknowledged the connection, saying, “@TheSimpsons ‘prediction’ I’m proud to be a part of.”

The episode where Lisa becomes President after Trump’s term also mentions inheriting a budget crunch, adding to the eerie accuracy of the prediction.
