BILLINGS — The extreme heat has arrived!
Daytime highs could exceed 100° as early as Tuesday, but are expected to reach that mark on Wednesday and Thursday in many areas. An Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening for much of the region. Record-breaking daytime highs are possible during this period.
Wildfire smoke will continue to be a concern at times throughout the week, so it is important to check the air quality before heading outdoors, especially if you are sensitive to smoke.
With the extremely high temperatures, minimal precipitation, dry conditions, low humidity, and gusty winds, the risk of wildfires remains elevated through Thursday. It is important to avoid any activities that could spark a fire!
A cold front moving through on Thursday evening will bring relief from the extreme heat, with temperatures in the 80s and 90s expected for Friday through the weekend.
There is a chance of isolated daily showers and thunderstorms this week, with a better chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms expected from Friday through Sunday.
