A lightning-caused fire burning in the mountains west of Cody, Wyoming, has grown to 72 acres in four days.
The Clearwater fire, seen torching trees and brush on a ridge between Elk Fork and June Creek drainages, is difficult to reach prompting firefighters to instead focus on protecting structures and infrastructure in the area.
âA change in weather systems is expected Thursday that could bring stronger winds, an increase in isolated thunderstorms, but more moderate temperatures are likely through the weekend,â according to the daily fire update.
There are no fire restrictions in place on the Shoshone National Forest, however as a reminder this is the time of year to be vigilant about possible ignition sources. When dousing a campfire, âdrown, stir, feel for heat, and repeatâ is the preferred method, the agency advised.
