BILLINGS — Dangerous heat will persist through tomorrow!
Wednesday and Thursday are expected to bring the hottest temperatures of the season so far, with record-breaking heat possible as many areas are forecasted to reach triple digits. It is advised to stay indoors as much as possible, limit outdoor activities, and stay hydrated if you need to go outside. Remember to take care of pets, children, and check on the elderly.
A cold front will move through on Thursday night, providing some relief from the extreme heat as we head into the weekend. Friday will see highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s, while Saturday and Sunday will have temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s.
There is a chance of daily hit or miss showers and thunderstorms through Sunday, but little to no accumulation is expected due to the dry conditions. With low humidity, high temperatures, and gusty winds, there is a concern for elevated fire weather conditions on Thursday after the cold front passes through. Please be cautious to prevent sparking fires.
Wildfire smoke will continue to affect the area on Wednesday, so it is important to check the air quality before going outside, especially for those sensitive to smoke.
Looking ahead, the rest of July is projected to have warmer-than-average temperatures and drier-than-average conditions. The outlook for August is not much different.
