Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries both endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination simultaneously.
Following President Joe Biden’s decision not to seek reelection, he endorsed Harris as his replacement, leading top Democrats like Schumer and Jeffries to throw their support behind her.

With no other prominent Democrats entering the race and state delegations pledging their support for Harris, her path to the nomination appears clear. Harris’ campaign also reported a surge in donations after Biden’s announcement.
Schumer emphasized that the process had already been decided and shifted focus to preventing Donald Trump’s reelection, highlighting the dangers he poses.
While Jeffries and Schumer did not call for Biden to withdraw, many of their colleagues did. After Biden yielded to pressure and stepped aside, Schumer supported the decision, praising Biden’s selflessness.
“The president has made the right call for the country,” Schumer stated, lauding Biden’s leadership.
