Apple Introduces Apple Intelligence at WWDC
Perhaps the biggest news out of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year was the announcement of “Apple Intelligence.” The tech giant is joining the artificial intelligence game by partnering with OpenAI to bring AI features to its devices such as iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.
What is Apple Intelligence?
Apple Intelligence is a new set of AI features designed to manage notifications, summarize texts and emails, and understand and create language and images. Siri will now act as a personal assistant, performing tasks and using apps to complete them efficiently.
Other features highlighted during Apple’s keynote include context-driven notifications, basic image generation tools, writing and proofreading tools, email prioritization, reply generation, and audio recording summaries.
According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the aim of Apple Intelligence is to enhance the user experience of their most personal products.
Devices Compatible with Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence will initially be available on the following devices:
- iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
- iPads with M1, M2, or M4 chips
- iMacs and MacBooks with M1, M2, or M3 chips
- Mac minis with M1 or M2 chips
- Mac Studios with M1 Max or M1 Ultra chips
- Mac Pros with M2 Ultra chip
Availability of Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is set to launch later this year with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. Beta testers may get a sneak peek of the technology this summer before a public release in the fall. Apple assures that AI services will be opt-in and some will be free for users with compatible software.
