Michael C. Hall is set to reprise his role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s Dexter: Original Sin and Dexter: Resurrection. Hall made the announcement during Showtime’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, revealing his involvement in the two spinoff series.
The upcoming series Dexter: Original Sin is scheduled to premiere in December 2024. Hall will play the voice of his younger self in the show, which is set in the ’90s. Showtime released a teaser at Comic-Con showcasing the cast and story of the new series.
In addition to Original Sin, a new spinoff titled Dexter: Resurrection was also announced during the panel. This series, set in present day, will see Hall reprising his role as Dexter. Resurrection is a follow-up to the recently aired Dexter: New Blood and is slated to premiere in the summer of 2025.
Showtime’s Co-CEO Chris McCarthy expressed excitement over Hall’s return to the Dexter universe, stating that the new series will cater to both existing fans and introduce a new generation of viewers to the iconic character.
The panel at SDCC for Original Sin featured showrunner Clyde Phillips, executive producer Scott Reynolds, and cast members Christian Slater, Patrick Gibson, and Molly Brown. Sarah Michelle Gellar moderated the panel, which saw Hall making a surprise appearance.
The original series Dexter premiered in 2006 and gained a massive following over its eight-season run. With the success of Dexter: New Blood, the franchise continues to expand with the upcoming spinoffs.
