Michael C. Hall is set to return as Dexter Morgan in the upcoming spinoff Dexter: Original Sin and the newly-announced spinoff Dexter: Resurrection. Hall made the announcement during Showtime‘s San Diego Comic-Con panel.
Dexter: Original Sin, scheduled to premiere in December 2024, will see Hall playing the inner voice of his younger self, portrayed by Patrick Gibson. Showtime released a Comic-Con teaser for the show, set in the ’90s, showcasing the cast in character.
Dexter: Resurrection is the latest spinoff, set in the present day, with Hall reprising his role as Dexter Morgan. The series will follow the events of Dexter: New Blood and is expected to debut in the summer of 2025.
Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, expressed excitement about Hall’s return and the expansion of the Dexter universe with these two new spinoffs.
Hall surprised fans by appearing at the SDCC panel for Original Sin, along with showrunner Clyde Phillips, executive producer Scott Reynolds, and cast members Christian Slater, Patrick Gibson, and Molly Brown, moderated by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The original Dexter series premiered in 2006 and ran for eight seasons, becoming a cult classic. The success led to Dexter: New Blood, a limited series set ten years after the original show.
More updates on these projects are expected as they develop at Showtime, so stay tuned for the latest updates on Original Sin and Resurrection.
