The Rookie cast made an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con on July 27th, teasing fans about the upcoming seventh season set to premiere next year on ABC.
During the panel hosted by TV Insider’s Damian Holbrook, the topic of Chenford came up. The cast shared some hints about the upcoming season, keeping the fans excited until the premiere. Nathan Fillion joked about the breakup, hinting at a possible reunion for Chenford in the future during the live-tweeted panel by a fan on X.
Eric Winter also addressed the Chenford split in Season 6, mentioning that Tim needs to work on himself before getting back into a relationship with Lucy (Melissa O’Neil). Winter hinted at Tim making it up to Lucy in different ways in the next season, giving hope to Chenford fans.
Chenford enthusiasts are no strangers to the slow burn between Tim and Lucy, finally getting together in Season 5 after years of anticipation. However, their romance hit a roadblock in the previous season when Tim ended things with Lucy due to his past haunting him.
Winter also shared his desire for Tim’s mom to make an appearance in the upcoming season. Fillion suggested Susan Sullivan, who played his onscreen mom in Castle, to take on the role of Tim’s mom in The Rookie.
While fans are eagerly waiting for the next season of The Rookie, they will have to wait until 2025 as the show is part of ABC’s 2025 midseason schedule.
