CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Tayla Moeykens, a talented barrel racer from Three Forks and the collegiate reserve national champion at Montana State for the past two years, emerged victorious in her semifinal race at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo on Friday, clocking the fastest time of the year at Frontier Park.
Riding her 6-year-old gelding KN Fames Best Yet, Moeykens finished with a time of 17.00 seconds, outpacing the runner-up Tiffany Lujan from Stephenville, Texas, whose time was 17.27.
Moeykens took home $5,375 for her outstanding performance.
In addition, other Montana competitors had strong showings in Cheyenne on Friday. Belgrade’s Caden Camp tied for third place in steer wrestling with a time of 6.5, earning $2,310. Saddle bronc rider Chase Brooks from Deer Lodge secured fourth place with a score of 85, winning $1,104, while Sage Newman from Melstone claimed fifth place with a score of 84, earning $644.
Moeykens is a graduate of MSU with a degree in business marketing and is the proud owner of two businesses: Cool Nerd Marketing and Four M Performance Horses.
