The Butte Miners saw their 2024 season come to an end Sunday afternoon in Belgrade after a 4-3 loss to the Belgrade Bandits.
On Friday, Butte rallied to knock off Belgrade 5-4 in extra innings. The Miners had seven hits on Sunday compared to six for Belgrade, but a three-run sixth inning doomed the Miners, who finished third in the Southern A District tournament, which is one spot short of the state tournament.
Anthony Knott and Cayde Stajcar each had two hits in the loss for the Miners who scored runs in the second and third innings aided by errors.
Derek Dunmire was on the mound for Butte and was given the loss after surrendering four runs on six hits in 5.2 innings pitched which included the deciding runs in the top of the sixth for Belgrade. Karsen McEwen and Stajcar were each credited with an RBI in the loss for Butte.Â
