Matthew Smiley, the Buffalo Bills special teams coordinator, with two decades of coaching experience, including 11 years in the NFL, has developed a method to transition from his career to fatherhood. He strives to leave work stress behind at his Orchard Park office.
The off-season posed a challenge to Smiley’s routine due to the new kickoff rule approved by league owners in March. This led to intense studying, video analysis, and on-field practice to master and teach the new rule.
Smiley admitted during an interview with The Buffalo News, “How much of my work brain is consumed with figuring this out? An improper percentage.”
