BUTTE, Mont. — Butte-Silver Bow has integrated a phone app into its emergency alert system, sending notifications directly to your phone if you sign up.
By downloading the Everbridge app, BSB residents can receive immediate alerts about local emergencies, such as severe weather, evacuations, dangerous suspects, and more.
The app can also provide specific details on which neighborhoods in the county are affected by the alerts.
Lisa Carey, the emergency manager in Butte-Silver Bow, highlights the speed of the notification system, citing the recent Blacktail Canyon fire where residents were quickly informed when evacuation warnings were lifted.
“Messages can be sent extremely quickly,” Carey explains. “It only takes seconds for the message to reach your phone if you opt in for text notifications. It can also call landlines and verbally communicate the emergency information.”
“This method is much faster than having police go door-to-door to notify people in an evacuation situation,” Carey adds.
To enroll in the notification system, simply download the Everbridge app, search for “Butte – Silver Bow Law Enforcement,” and provide your details on the sign-up page, including address and phone number, to start receiving notifications.
You can also sign up via desktop by visiting the Butte-Silver Bow member portal website link.
If you have any questions about the notification system, you can contact Carey at 406-497-6440 or lcarey@bsb.mt.gov.
