Former NFL running back Rashaad Penny has decided to retire after facing multiple injuries throughout his six-season career. The Carolina Panthers recently moved Penny to the reserve/retired list and added undrafted rookie wide receiver Tayvion Robinson to their team. Penny, who had signed with the Panthers in May, emphasized to the Charlotte Observer that he considers himself one of the top running backs in the league when he is healthy. At 28 years old, Penny reunited with coach Dave Canales in Carolina, who had previously worked with him in Seattle. Canales spoke about Penny’s decision, acknowledging his struggle to return to his peak performance and wishing him the best in his future endeavors. Penny, a former first-round pick, spent most of his career with the Seahawks before playing for the Eagles last season. He finishes his career with 1,951 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in 45 games. Meanwhile, Robinson, a promising rookie, had an impressive college career with 194 catches for 2,604 yards and 16 touchdowns. –Field Level Media
