The budget-friendly Spirit Airlines is gearing up for a significant transformation, moving away from its traditional fee-heavy approach to introduce premium fare bundles that include perks like free checked bags and snacks.
Based in Florida, the airline recently announced the launch of four new ticket options – “Go Big,” “Go Comfy,” “Go Savvy,” and “Go,” aiming to provide customers with an “elevated” travel experience at an affordable price.

Spirit disclosed that its top bundle upgrade, “Go Big,” will offer priority check-in, a spacious seat with extra legroom, Wi-Fi streaming access, one carry-on and one checked bag, snacks, drinks, and alcoholic beverages. All four options will also allow passengers to change or cancel their flights at no extra cost.
“We’re ushering in a new era at Spirit and elevating low-fare travel to new levels with enhanced options that are unparalleled in our history,” said Spirit CEO Ted Christie in a statement. “We’ve listened to our customers and are thrilled to provide what they desire.”

This shift in strategy comes as the airline, recognized for its distinctive yellow planes, has faced financial challenges, with over four years of losses totaling nearly $2.4 billion since 2019. Spirit strives to compete against other major airlines that offer comprehensive travel options while still maintaining low fares.
