Donald Trump is forced to come up with a new electoral strategy less than 100 days before the US presidential election. He has two campaign events scheduled for Wednesday, with his new opponent Kamala Harris in focus.
The Republican’s campaign for the presidency was thrown into disarray on July 21 when President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed Vice President Harris as the Democratic nominee.
Trump had made Biden’s age and health a key issue in his campaign, portraying him as unfit for office.
Now, Trump faces a new opponent in Harris, who is the first Black, woman, and South-Asian Vice President candidate and who is almost twenty years younger than him.
This change in opponent has forced Trump and the Republicans to quickly change their strategy, and they are still figuring out how to attack her.
Trump has already used various nicknames for Harris, such as “Lying Kamala,” “Laughing Kamala,” and “Crazy Kamala.”
He has also made false accusations against her, including in North Carolina where he claimed she supported “the execution of a baby,” misrepresenting her stance on abortion.
On Wednesday, Trump will participate in a roundtable discussion with African American journalists in Chicago to discuss issues facing the Black community. Later in the day, he will hold a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
On Saturday, Trump will head to Atlanta, Georgia, for a campaign event with his running mate J.D. Vance, who has recently come under scrutiny for past controversial statements.
Harris, on the other hand, will be in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday evening to speak to a group of African-American students, after campaigning in Wisconsin, Georgia, and Indiana.
