MISSOULA, Mont. – We are just days away from the Western Montana Fair, opening on Tuesday August 6th.
There’s a new and improved, grand addition to the fairgrounds that will be ready to use for the first time ever next week.
The Missoula Fair Grounds is the home of the newest grandstands in the state.
The new stands will accommodate about two hundred more spectators than the old ones, has several spacious standing areas, ADA sections, and all of the technology has been updated for both safety and entertainment.
“We have a very exciting and complex new lighting system that’s being installed that we can actually do staging and some different things with,” says Billie Brown, Missoula County Fairgrounds Events and Operations Manager.
And the stands themselves might actually seem familiar to football fans.
“To save on costs, we recycled forms that were used by Missoula Concrete Construction before. And so on the bottom, you’ll see the seats are low, rising, low and slow and they’re created from forms that were used at the Bobcat Stadium. And then in the top portions, the seats rise really high and fast, and they’re based on forms that were used at the Griz Stadium.
Brown points out that no matter where your loyalties lie, it’s a win-win, with the Griz format higher, and Cats format closer.
The fair is free, but remember to buy your tickets for the rodeo before August 5th to save $5 on each ticket, and make sure you buy them from the right site.
“We’ve already received a lot of reports of people buying the tickets from fraudulent sites by just doing a Google search. And they’re being charged hundreds of dollars, and that’s just not right. These tickets are available from WesternMontanaFair.Com.”
If you want to be one of the first to see the grandstands before the rodeo,
“The dedication and grand opening of the Claus Bauer Arena, it will be 4 pm on Tuesday, August 6th. Then, following the grand opening, we’ll have a guided tour from 4:30 – 5, and then we’ll start with the extreme bull’s performance at 7.”
Come for the fair, stay for the rodeo, and let the view from the top of the grandstand make you want to come back the next day.
