Rob Lowe has announced that a sequel to “St. Elmo’s Fire” is currently in the works.
The 60-year-old actor, who starred in the original 1985 Brat Pack film, revealed that discussions about a follow-up have been ongoing for about four months. He mentioned that the recent “Brats” documentary has added to the excitement surrounding the project, but emphasized that it is still in the very early stages of development. Lowe shared with “Entertainment Tonight”: “We’ve had meetings with the studio and have been in talks for a while. But it’s very early days. So we’ll have to wait and see.”
In the iconic movie, Lowe shared the screen with Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Andie MacDowell, and Mare Winningham.
Just a couple of years ago, McCarthy expressed his desire to reconnect with all of his former co-stars, noting that they had all gone their separate ways since the film’s release.
Reflecting on their bond, McCarthy told Hollywood Life: “It’s been so long, yet we’re still so connected, in a way that I’m not with other actors I worked with 10 or 20 years ago.”
