Immigration and border security are significant topics on the campaign trail, and Arizonans can anticipate visits from both Republican and Democrat candidates in the near future.
Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance recently toured a portion of the Arizona-Mexico border in Cochise County and addressed the press briefly.

“Kamala Harris came into office making promises and has fulfilled them by opening the American Southern border,” Vance stated. “They halted deportations and border wall construction immediately. We can see the unfinished border wall behind us, which remains incomplete due to Kamala Harris’ administration.”

Vance’s visit coincides with a decrease in apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border, dropping by over 60% since June following an executive order by President Joe Biden to limit asylum seekers.
Meanwhile, in Cochise County, where Vance visited, officials highlight ongoing concerns about smuggling and high-speed pursuits.
Vance’s trip to Arizona, which included a rally in Glendale, precedes Vice President Harris’ upcoming campaign stop next week. She is scheduled to tour various battleground states starting Tuesday, after announcing her running mate.
