LSU has reinstated cornerback Javien Toviano just under two weeks after he surrendered to authorities on charges of video voyeurism. Toviano, a projected starter for LSU, participated in the Tigers’ first practice of fall camp on Thursday. Coach Brian Kelly briefly addressed the situation without providing details on what changed to allow Toviano back with the team. “He’s back in football activities, and we’ll get him going again, back in the mix,” Kelly informed reporters. “Obviously, he’s going to be a competitive player for us. He played for us last year, and we’ll get him going as he works through his legal matters.” According to a police arrest warrant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Toviano is accused of recording himself having intercourse with a woman without her consent. The woman informed the police that Toviano had previously recorded their intimate moments without her permission, and she clearly communicated to him that she did not want to be recorded. The woman stated that a clock with a hidden camera near the bed captured videos that she later discovered on Toviano’s iPad. Toviano admitted during an interview with detectives that he utilized the hidden camera for this purpose. WBRZ in Baton Rouge reported that Toviano hired a new attorney this week. Toviano was a top-100 recruit in the Class of 2023 and saw action in 13 games as a freshman, registering 33 tackles, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery. -Field Level Media
