PA Governor’s Endorsement Could Raise Poll Numbers for Harris

In battleground Pennsylvania, the presidential race is still shaping up. The popular Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro is reportedly a strong contender to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate. Anna Marie Politsopoulous, a supporter of Trump, believes that Trump will face a tough challenge if Shapiro is on the ticket. In 2022, Shapiro won the governor’s race against a Trump-backed candidate by a significant margin.

Jayne Blake, a Democrat who supports Harris, mentioned that her Republican husband also supports Josh Shapiro. Recent polls indicate that Harris may benefit from Shapiro’s support in Pennsylvania.

While a New York Times/Siena College Poll from July shows Trump leading Biden by a few percentage points, Harris’ numbers are still fluctuating. Several recent polls have the race close to the margin of error.

Congressman Dan Meuser, a Pennsylvania Republican, believes the race is tight, with Trump having a slight lead. A recent poll by SP&R shows Harris with a narrow 4-point lead within the margin of error.

Following an incident in Butler where the former president was almost assassinated, his supporters have shown increased enthusiasm. Pennsylvania, with its 19 electoral votes, is a crucial battleground state for both candidates.

Both campaigns are vying for an advantage, with Harris planning her first rally alongside her unnamed running mate in Philadelphia. Trump’s choice of JD Vance was aimed at appealing to White, working-class voters in the state, while Harris is looking to Governor Shapiro for support.

Mr. Meuser noted that historically vice-presidential candidates have minimal impact on the race.
