MONTANA – The latest U.S. drought monitor for the state shows right now that Montana is in serious need of some rain.
These drought conditions are even worse for western Montana. Farmers soon though could be getting a little bit of extra cash if they can serve water.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Thursday it will invest up to $400 million in paying farmers in 11 states in the west.
With the ongoing drought conditions, the money will be given to water districts who then work with farmers to install water saving technology.
The water conservation practices are something that is being done right now to save what is believed could be 16 billion gallons of water.
