The Billings Mustangs gave up five runs in the top of the ninth inning to the Glacier Range Riders, squandering a chance to pick up a third straight win as the visitors won 7-6 on Saturday evening at Dehler Park.
Billings (30-35 overall, 8-9 second half) looked to be in business as it held a 5-2 lead going into the ninth, but Glacier (33-32, 4-13) pulled off a stunning last-gasp rally to halt the Mustangs’ winning streak at two games.
Taylor Lomack hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth to pull the Mustangs back within a run, but Billings was retired in order from then on out as the Range Riders successfully finished the comeback.
Connor Denning had a three-RBI night (including a two-run homer) to help put the Mustangs ahead early, with further RBIs from Kyle Booker and Blake Evans also being chipped in in the meantime.

But pitching late did the Ponies in as losing pitcher Jonathan Haab failed to record an out in the ninth before being pulled after four earned runs allowed off of three hits, while Dawson Lane let another Glacier run get by before he was able to end the half-inning.
The Mustangs will try to end their homestand with Glacier on a high note when they close out the series at 1:05 p.m. Sunday at Dehler. Billings will then depart for a six-game series on the road at the Boise Hawks starting Tuesday.
