An Alabama man allegedly drugged and raped a woman in a field near a state building, a school, and a hospital in Helena, court documents state.
Samuel Hoyt Hubbard, 42, was arrested after an officer was dispatched on Aug. 3 to a motel on the 800 block of north Oregon Street for a report of a woman who said she was raped.
Documents filed in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court said the woman had scrapes on the back of her arms and scratches from fingernails on the front of her neck and chest.
An officer noted in the documents that the woman had red marks and the beginning of bruising and swelling around her neck.
She left a casino with the defendant and went to a bar on the 2100 block of 11th Avenue, court documents state. She told officers she remembered being in a field near a Department of Public Health and Human Services building, a school, and a hospital where Hubbard was living out of a white Suburban.

Officers later located a Ford Expedition in the parking lot of the DPHHS building on Colonial Avenue near a field in the area of Smith Elementary School.
The woman said she was forced to orally ingest powdered methamphetamine or Hubbard said he would kill her, court documents state.
A nurse at an emergency room told officers that the victim showed signs that can occur after a sexual assault, authorities said.
On Aug. 4, officers responded to the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 12 in response to an individual locating property that belonged to the woman at a business.
Officers learned the caller used a false name and was the defendant, who was given a pat search, documents state. They said a small bag with a crystal-like substance was discovered and tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
Hubbard was charged with felony aggravated sexual intercourse without consent and felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
He was arrested and placed in the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center and was listed on the inmate roster as of Aug. 5.
