The artwork of Father Robert Porter, a Deer Lodge native and retired St. James chaplain, will be exhibited throughout August at Slainte, 8 S. Montana St.
The long-time priest took to painting following a cancer diagnosis five years ago and painting was an outlet that brought life and meaning during a difficult time.
His art has been described as an intriguing meditation on colors. The artist calls it whimsical folk art.
“There are no rules, no straight lines, just pure expression,” said Father Porter.
All proceeds will go towards the Butte Native Wellness Center Arts and Crafts Education for Children.
