Cleveland defensive end Za’Darius Smith sustained a knee contusion and had to be carted off the field during the Browns’ Monday practice. The injury occurred while he was participating in red zone drills. Smith is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Tuesday. Last season, in his first year with Cleveland, Smith played 16 games, starting in all of them, and recorded 5.5 sacks, 27 tackles, and a forced fumble. Throughout his nine NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and now Cleveland, the 31-year-old has played a total of 123 games, with 80 starts. He has accumulated 60 sacks, 298 tackles, 15 passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in his career.
